Patch notes for CalcShot, newest first.
2026-10-24: New name: CalcShot
- Same calculator add-on, new name. The site moves to calcshot.com.
- On the calculator the program is now called CALCSHOT. After the next update, run
Send({1})from the home screen to install it, then delete the old TIAI program (2ND, MEM, 2: Mem Mgmt/Del, 7: Prgm).
2026-10-24: Buying a unit in person
- Buying a unit in person by card: scan the QR code with your phone and pay there. The page that opens afterwards shows your device ID.
- Paying cash: ask for an emailed receipt. It shows the device ID and how to add credits on the website later.
2026-10-24: Version 2.1
- Answer presets: choose how answers are explained. Full steps (as before), Answer only, Hint first, Brief and Check my work, plus up to 8 of your own. Pick one on the calculator with 4:PRESET on the main menu, or set a default on the dashboard. Your old custom instructions are now a preset called Custom.
- Re-ask: after a photo answer, press 1 to solve the same photo again with another preset or model, without taking it again. From the dashboard, re-ask any of your last 5 photo requests when history is on. Each re-ask is a new request at the normal cost.
- Photo notes: on the photo preview, press 3 to add a short note (up to 120 characters), such as "only part b". It goes with that photo only.
- History keeps the full photo, recompressed so it looks the same, instead of a small thumbnail. Still opt-in, still the last 5 photos only, still deleted after 24 hours.
- Documents: you now see and can correct the text taken from a PDF, Word or PowerPoint file before it is used. Nothing is used until you press Include.
- New 2000-credit pack.
- Try it without a calculator: the /try page shows real answers to six demo problems.
2026-10-23: Accounts, credits and the dashboard
- New website: refill any calculator from its device ID, no account needed.
- Optional account with email sign-in links (no passwords). Bind a calculator with its device ID and the bind code from SETTINGS on the calculator.
- Dashboard: credits and their expiry dates, plans, devices, model choice, reply language, custom instructions, reference documents, opt-in history and usage.
- Every new unit starts with a 30-day trial on the standard models, up to 100 requests a day.
- Credits come in lots that each last 365 days. The oldest-expiring lot is used first.
- History is off unless you turn it on. Turning it off deletes what was kept.
2026-10-23: Platform server
- Calculators can now answer through a server instead of a key stored on the device. The server picks the model, applies your settings and keeps track of credits.
- Six models from three providers: GPT-6 Luna and GPT-6.1 Sol (OpenAI), Claude Haiku 5.5 and Claude Opus 5.5 (Anthropic), Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite and Gemini 3.8 Flash (Google).
- Reasoning level: fast, balanced or deep. Deep costs one extra credit per request.
- The usage log records which model answered and what it cost, never the question or answer.
- Per-device daily limits and a global spending limit protect the service.
2026-10-23: Choice of provider
- The calculator can answer with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google models.
- The main menu shows which provider is in use.
- Follow-up questions (REPLY) work with all three providers.
2026-10-23: Study and homework wording
- The instructions the model gets now describe working through a problem and writing up a solution, for study and homework. Answer formatting did not change.
2026-10-23: Version 1.1
- CLEAR now cancels any wait for an answer and exits the program cleanly. Before, a dropped reply could leave the calculator stuck on a waiting screen.
- The problem type set under SETTINGS > PROB TYPE now applies to typed questions and replies, not only to photos.
